/ Contest – Young Urban Farmers

For our Green Room planters, Young Urban Farmers decided to go with a native perennial woodland theme. In keeping with our focus on edible plants, the plants feature a variety of edible parts such as fiddleheads, pine needles for tea, sweet woodruff and hostas for salads and greens. In striving for a green and eco-friendly display, we also chose to include exclusively perennial plants, which cut down on waste, and can be added to the garden at the end of the season and enjoyed every year.

We strived to create a variety of lush, green hues of a forest, complement it with the whites of the birch and hostas, and transplant that into an urban landscape.

Plants include red pine, sweet woodruff, ostrich fern, variegated hostas, English ivy, birch logs, moss, and oak bark.
